At NOLA School of Music, we offer private lessons in trumpet, trombone, french horn, tuba, and more. However, since I’m being painted as a whiner anyway, I am going to share three things that have been getting on my nerves recently. The best way to make sure you're not making these technique mistakes is to find a private teacher who can help guide you as you progress on your instrument. Remember: Brushing your teeth protects you and your instrument!

Just make sure that your teeth are free of crumbs, that you rinse your mouth with water, and that your tongue isn’t a bright neon color from fruit punch or candy. This doesn’t mean you have to brush and floss each time you play. As if you care, I know you got your own stuff going on. Second, poor lighting and an unflattering angle might make you feel insecure, which the potential client could view as you being insecure about your work. Snack foods, candies, and soft drinks should be avoided right before and during practice. First, you want to make sure you don’t have any tech snags here before the call.
